Students are going to go on Webquest of the United States. Students are going to be working today and tomorrow looking at flash animations and examining the different processes of Mitosis and Meiosis. Students will need to fill out an accompanying worksheet. Once students are done, they will create a poster to better illustrate one of these two processes. The animations can be found here: Mitosis info can be found at the bottom of THIS PAGE. Meiosis info can be found at the bottom of THIS PAGE. HERE is a glossary of terms. Today students are going to use this online review to review for their upcoming. We will be using this in class for their review game.
Today is designed to help students recall what they learned before IOWA Testing began. The first part of this lab start on the computer. Students are going to run a simulation that shows what happens to different cells in different liquids. (http://www.glencoe.com/sites/common_assets/science/virtual_labs/LS03/LS03.html) While students are here, they need to follow the directions on the simulation, and then answer the 7 questions under the journal section. While students are working on these, I will be calling them up to our lab table and examine what parts of a pumpkin are performing cellular respiration.
Here are the review files for your upcoming tests. Please download them and take a look. We will use these review guides in class during our review game.
Students are looking at their family a little differently in this project. For this project, students will create a Powerpoint to describe their family culture. They have to think of their family as a country. Attached to this post is a rubric to help guide students to create and get ready to present their Powerpoints.
